Sarah Hawes
Sarah has worked over ten years in the field of ecology, as a consultant, and most recently, as Biodiversity Net Gain Officer at Bristol City Council, UK.
Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) is the new mandatory requirement within England for developments to have a measurably positive impact on biodiversity. The gains are quantitatively measured by using a metric to compare the baseline biodiversity value of a site to the proposed development design. As a result, BNG is changing the way nature is considered within new developments.
With a MSc in Biodiversity, Conservation and Ecosystem Management and an MA in Landscape Architecture, Sarah brings a multidisciplinary approach to her work in delivering Biodiversity Net Gain.
Experienced in carrying out BNG assessments for multiple projects and delivering training within the private sector, Sarah is now responsible for facilitating the delivery of BNG within Bristol.
