Dafne Schippers

Dafne Schippers

Dafne Schippers is a former top athlete, born on June 15, 1992 in Utrecht. From an early age she showed her extraordinary talent in athletics. During her career she achieved great international success. Dafne won several European sprint titles, was twice the world champion in the 200 meters and took silver at the 2016 Olympic Games. She also holds five Dutch records and a European record and was voted Sportswoman of the Year twice.

The ‘Dafne Schippersbrug’ is an extension of the street where she grew up in Utrecht. In September 2023, partly due to persistent injuries, she decided to end her impressive career. Since then, she has shared her experiences on the lecture circuit, commented on major tournaments and was appointed tournament director of the European Athletics Championships in Apeldoorn in 2025.
